YELLOWCARD IS GOING ON TOUR WITH THIRD EYE BLIND

FEBRUARY 9, 2024 (New York, NY) -- “During the 6 years that Yellowcard was apart, I was constantly searching for ways to continue my career as a musician and producer, I had the idea to basically do Yellowcard covers featuring friends and artists I’ve had the pleasure of knowing throughout my career," explains YELLOWCARD vocalist/guitarist Ryan Key about A Hopeful Sign, their new collaboration album with the Nashville-based post-rock duo HAMMOCK which is out today February 9, 2024 via Equal Vision. The new album revisits some of the alt-rock band’s most unforgettable songs and revamps them with an ambient and delicate feel. In tandem with the album release today the band shared the focus track "Only One" which takes one of the band’s most iconic sentimental pop-punk anthems and transforms it into a contemplative piano-led ballad.

"'Only One' has always fascinated me because at its core it’s actually a song about a painful ending to a relationship, yet it’s such a popular song in a setting like a wedding or anniversary. Obviously that is due to the nature of the chorus lyrics. What I love about the Hammock reimagining is that it really brings out the true meaning of the song by making it more." - Ryan Key

Wanting to work with artists they are inspired by, this collaboration came to them seamlessly, “Yellowcard is in a new place where we are collaborating with other artists more than ever before,” says Key about this new musical relationship. The first artist to finish a collaboration was Hammock with their reworked version of ‘Empty Street’.” This then began their collaborative spark to piece together A Hopeful Sign.

Reflecting on the tracklist on A Hopeful Sign, he adds, “I still can’t quite believe it’s real, that we were able to create an entire album with a band that has had such a massive influence on us. Whether it is one of our well-known songs or a deeper cut, these versions bring with them completely new interpretations and meanings for listeners who have lived with them for so many years. I have found Hammock in my top three most-played artists every year for nearly a decade now. Hammock are one of the defining and most pioneering artists in the post-rock and ambient space. We have taken so much inspiration from their work over the years so first becoming friends, and then unexpectedly getting to work together on new music were dreams come true.”

The nine-track album takes tracks from 2003’s Ocean Avenue (title track, “Only One”), 2006’s Lights And Sounds (“Waiting Game”), 2007’s Paper Walls (“You And Me And One Spotlight”), 2012’s Southern Air (title track, “Telescope”), 2014’s Lift A Sail(“Transmission Home”) and 2016’s Yellowcard (“Empty Street”, “A Place We Set Afire”). “It is such an honor to have worked on ‘A Hopeful Sign’ with such talented humans, and this record will be something we cherish forever,” says Ryan.

Last month the band performed on Good Morning America on ABC-TV nationwide, and are experiencing a transformative resurgence after their six-year hiatus. With their critically-hailed new EP Childhood Eyes (2023) that ignited a powerful flame, the band played some of the biggest venues of their career last Summer.  In addition, the 20thanniversary of their breakthrough album Ocean Avenue generated added momentum, resurrecting the band back into the media spotlight, including coverage in Rolling StonePeopleFORBESAlternative PressConsequence of SoundBrooklyn Vegan, among others.

Certified double platinum in the US by the RIAA, gold in Canada, and silver in the UK, Ocean Avenue solidified Yellowcard’s concrete impact on the music world. The high respect that the album owns has not burned out in the twenty years since its release. Yellowcard's incredible success from their studio albums paired with their powerful live performances secured the band’s legacy in the history of alternative music.

A Hopeful Sign is released today February 9, 2024 via Equal Vision. Yellowcard is Ryan Key (vocals, guitar), Sean Mackin (violin), Ryan Mendez (guitar), and Josh Portman (bass).

Woledto, translating to "I am born," speaks volumes about the rebirth and renewal embedded within the music - while also showcasing the Palestinian-Chilean artist’s new chapter, as she steps into global stardom. “This album is my debut album ‘Woledto’ and it lives in its own world. It’s something I’ve never heard before, yet it feels nostalgic. It holds so much culture, and it’s Spanish inspired with a touch of tribal fusion,” says Elyanna. As Elyanna continues to push boundaries and redefine contemporary music, Woledto stands as a testament to her unwavering dedication to her heritage and her role as a cultural trailblazer.

This month, Elyanna graced the cover of VOGUE Arabia, following her February cover of Billboard Arabia, solidifying her status as a rising star in the global music landscape.

In celebration of Arab Heritage Month, Elyanna will headline a special show at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on April 27th, followed by a headlining show at KOKO in London on May 6th. These events promise to be immersive experiences, where Elyanna's mesmerizing performances will pay homage to her cultural heritage by seamlessly integrating Arabic elements such as traditional instruments, belly dancing, dabke, and more – giving her fans the ultimate experience by portraying the beauty of Middle Eastern culture.

Elyanna's commitment to her roots is evident not only in her music but also in her visuals. In her latest music video “Al Sham”, symbolism intertwines with storytelling as motifs like evil eyes, Arabian swords, and golden hearts add depth to the narrative. Collaborating closely with her inner circle, including her sister Tali Marjieh, her best friend Merey Naddour, and her brother Feras (p/k/a Fairdose), Elyanna brings her vision to life with authenticity and passion.

Earlier this year, Elyanna achieved an impressive feat –selling out her debut North American Tour, where her performance served  “as a refreshing reminder of the power of genuine artistry. Additionally, Elyanna was included in Rolling Stone’s  25 Artists to Watch in 2023, showcased in VOGUE Arabia, The Cut, among others. Stay tuned for more updates on Elyanna's album release and headlining shows.

BAS DROPS NEW VIDEO + TOUR KICKS OFF NEXT WEEK

GRAMMY-nominated, RIAA-certified artist Bas released his new album We Only Talk About Real Shit When We’re Fucked Up late last year, and today he’s back with a new video from it for “UTURN” ft. Blxckie and Ferg. Directed by iloobia and Ryan Doubiago the video is the second in a series of videos from the album where Bas put the creative control of the visuals into the care of hand-picked creators. Shot over five continents during Bas’s travels, Iloobia notes on the process of making it:

“Once all the footage for the video was shot on 16mm and 35mm celluloid film by Ryan, all the reels were sent to my studio. There I chopped up the pristine physical film to build giant celluloid collages, painting, scratching and generally vandalising it along the way. The trickiest part was that the collages had to be designed to play perfectly in synch with the track when rephotographed frame by frame. Finally after photographing all the collages I dropped them into a digital edit where I did a final layer of moves, zooms and pans. It was a crazily long and laborious process, with all kinds of unique problems to solve, but so worth it.”

Starting next week Bas will kick off a 23-city tour produced by Live Nation making stops in Los Angeles, Toronto, Atlanta and more before wrapping up in New York at Irving Plaza on April 9. Support on the tour will come from South African artist Blxckie, Reuben Vincent and Hoosh.

Produced by Boi-1da, T-Minus, J.Cole among others Bas’s fourth album We Only Talk About Real Shit When We’re Fucked Up was profoundly inspired by his travels having traversed five continents since 2022. Collaborating with an international roster of featured artists, Bas curated a journey to transcend borders, boasting an impressive lineup including J. Cole(NC), Amaarae (Ghana), AJ Tracey (London), FKJ (France), A$AP FERG (NYC), Adekunle Gold (Nigeria), Blxckie (South Africa) and Sha Sha (Zimbabwe) with additional production from Nigerian super producer Kel- P, J Lloyd (Jungle), Lydia Kitto, and more.

We Only Talk About Real Shit When We’re Fucked Up follows a dual narrative for Bas. On one hand, the album sheds light on the societal phenomenon where sensitive topics become conversational only under the influence of substances, as evident in tracks like "Ho Chi Minh." On the flip side, it also serves as a commentary on society's tendency to remain indifferent to challenging scenarios until they reach critical junctures, as reflected in tracks like "Khartoum" and "Decent.”

Today, celebrated singer-songwriter Frank Turner releases “Girl From The Record Shop,” the latest track to be lifted from the Friday, May 3 release of his forthcoming album, Undefeated, the follow-up to Turner’s acclaimed #1 UK album, FTHC (pre-order/pre-save/pre-add HERE). The  breakneck “Girl From the Record Shop” is a brilliant Frankenstein-like mashup of messrs: Bragg and Costello. Two towering influences, for sure, but Turner wrestles them into something wholly his own. “‘Girl From The Record Shop’ is a little power-pop flight of fancy, a teenage dream of romance for my inner music nerd, complete with an admission of my inevitable adolescent failure,” Turner says. “Short, sharp and to the point." Stream “Girl From The Record Shop” on YouTube HERE and on all platforms HERE

Additionally, Turner recently announced their upcoming U.S. headline tour for May and June, produced by Live Nation. Kicking off on Thursday, May 23 at XL Live in Harrisburg, PA, Turner’s Undefeated Tour will feature his long-standing band The Sleeping Souls and hit markets across the south, midwest, west coast and east coast, and culminate in an appearance at The Fillmore in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, June 22. The tour will feature support from Amigo the Devil, Bridge City Sinners and Micah Schnabel & Vanessa Jean Speckman in select markets. Prior to the tour, Turner will be performing as part of the SXSW Music and Arts Festival in Austin, TX and Shamrock Rebellion with Flogging Molly in March on a handful of dates.

The Main Stage artists for Turner’s upcoming Lost Evenings VII Festival in Toronto, Ontariofrom September 19-22 at The Theatre at The Great Canadian Casino Resort Torontohave also been announced, which include punk legend Henry Rollins, NOBRO, The Dirty Nil, Bedouin Soundclash, Martha Wainwright, Murder By Death, Northcote and The OBGMs. Weekend passes are officially SOLD OUT and single day tickets are currently on sale. Tickets for all shows are on sale now via Turner’s official site HERE, and a full listing of dates can be found below.

“Now I’m surprised to report that as I enter my forties, I’ve returned to being an angry man,”
Frank Turner sings on the recent track “No Thank You For The Music.” And that’s a concise statement as to what to expect from the forthcoming Undefeated. Finding the sweet spot between youthful outspokenness and surviving midlife’s challenges, Undefeated is a record that explores both emotionally compelling topics and lighter reflections on those troubles that eventually come to most of us: who you are versus who you wanted to be in your youth, life-altering love, fading friendships, wistful nostalgia, the mental fallout and political consequences that still linger from the pandemic era, and the more prosaic issue of persistent backache.

“There are no clichés about the difficult 10th album, so in some ways, that's a liberating statement,”
he continues. “But at the same time, I have a duty to justify writing and releasing a 10th album. That's a lot of records for anybody. Also, I’m 42. Which is not a sexy, rock’n’roll age. But all through my career, I've been interested in writers like Loudon Wainwright III or The Hold Steady, people who write about adulthood, essentially.”

While thematically Undefeated is informed by this time in life, sonically, it’s full of echoes to influences that Turner has touched upon at various moments in his kaleidoscopic career. It switches from Black Flag to Counting Crows, from Descendents to The Pogues, via Elvis Costello and Billy Bragg. Its freewheeling nature is reflective not only of his newfound independence, but also of the creative environment he found himself in.

In true DIY spirit, Undefeated represents a new chapter for the punk veteran — the result of Turner’s decision to step away from the major label world and re-embrace the liberation of working as an independent artist. Additionally, the album was recorded in the home studio that he and his wife, Jessica Guise, share on Mersea Island, Essex, and was written and produced entirely by himself. It also features his longstanding, loyal bandmates The Sleeping Souls Ben Lloyd(guitar), Tarrant Anderson (bass), Callum Green (drums) and Matt Nasir (piano).

The release of Undefeated will of course see this punk road warrior tour with the tenacity and intense schedules that he’s known for (such as the sprawling 50 States in 50 Days North American tour) but with even bigger ambitions that will be revealed in due course as he nears his 3000th (!) show. But for now, anticipate the new album: a typically energizing, literate, playful and provocative set from a musician who remains Undefeated after a quarter-of-a-century in the game.

Frank Turner will be making the following North American appearances during 2024. Dates below.

“The band and I couldn’t be more excited for these upcoming dates,” shares front man Andrew McMahon. “We’re having more fun together than ever and the generosity of the fans, both online and at last year’s shows, made it impossible not to come back and do a few more. We hope to see you there!”

The core members of the Orange County, California quintet Andrew McMahon(vocals, piano), Josh Partington (guitar), Kevin “Clutch” Page (bass), Brian Ireland (drums), and William Tell (guitar) – reunited in 2023 for main stage performances at the When We Were Young festival and three sold-out headlining shows in Las Vegas and Anaheim. These five special gigs, their first official shows together in 20 years, left their dedicated fanbase clamoring for more. The reunion performances also saw McMahon debut a one-of-a-kind upright piano fully wrapped in Christie MicroTiles LED displaying images and lyrics from throughout the band’s catalog, slated to be front and center once again on the Out Of Office Tour.

Something Corporate first formed in 1998 when its members were in high school and in a short period of time created quite the stir before going on hiatus in 2005. During its tenure, the highly adored SoCal band released multiple albums, including their major label debut, Leaving Through The Window, in 2002 via MCA Records/Drive-Thru Records, which premiered at the top of the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, and 2003’s North, which entered the Billboard 200 at #24. During its heyday, the band toured extensively worldwide, including a summer on the Vans Warped Tour, graced the cover of Alternative Press magazine, and performed on late-night TV including an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Collectively, Something Corporate – hailed as “one of the most respected groups in the scene with their incredible hooks and emotionally transparent music” (Alternative Press) – has sold over 1 million total records.

Polyvinyl Record Co. and Laura Jane Grace are excited to announce the release of Hole In My Head, the Emmy-nominated artist, author, activist and musician’s acclaimed new full-length album (stream and purchase HERE). Recorded at Native Sound in St. Louis, MO with David Beeman and mixed by Matt Allison (The Lawrence Arms, Rise Against), Hole In My Head is a showcase that features warm, ‘50s rock-influenced guitar riffs, saved-for-later lyrics, love letters to new surroundings, and thoughtful reflections on a punk life lived. Grace’s commanding vocals are backed predominately by her performances on guitar and drums, and bolstered by Drive-By Truckers bassist Matt Patton, whose presence rounds out a full-band sound on over half the album.

Additionally, Grace and her band will be touring behind Hole In My Head this March, May and July across the U.S. and Canada with support from Worriers, Sam Russo, Thelma and the Sleaze and Dikembe in select markets. Tickets for all shows are on sale now via Grace’s site HERE, and a full listing of dates can be found below.

A musical force since Against Me!'s debut in the late-’90s and one of Billboard Magazine’s “50 Greatest Rock Lead Singers Of All Time,” punk veteran Laura Jane Grace has never shied away from themes of political commentary, environmentalism, social critique and candid self-exploration. On Hole In My Head, she continues to showcase her songwriting genius across the 11 tracks presented here, issuing an album that captures the nuances of humanity and experience in a strangely optimistic manner. The lightness of its influence, and the journalistic recollection of experience set against a battered and warm folk-punk delivery from beginning to end, makes Hole In My Head a refreshing comfort and a welcome embrace of life.

From the scrappy acoustic anthem “Dysphoria Hoodie,” the Jonathan Richman-inspired “I’m Not A Cop” and jangle of “Punk Rock in Basements,” a Dion-inspired song where she looks back on the formative underground spaces of her youth, Hole In My Head also takes time to reflect on Grace’s ongoing travels and adopted homes, themes that have always been at the heart of her songwriting. Written in Amsterdam on a black hollow-body Gretsch guitar that was hand-painted by her friend Gakkin, “Birds Talk Too” is a song that commemorates Grace’s recent experience of having her head shaved and tattooed by the famed Japanese artist.

Elsewhere, the easygoing “Tacos and Toast” settles into the ease of living in her now part-time home of St. Louis. Assuming ownership of what was once Jajouka, a storied warehouse studio that previously belonged to Jay Farrar of Son Volt and Uncle Tupelo, Grace views St. Louis as a city where her ability to make music in a new place has been fully renewed. “St. Louis really opened its arms to me and I just have such a great time when I’m there. It’s a really special city,” she says. “To me, it feels like the way every city in America felt when I first started touring in the late-‘90s, and this crazy mix of fun and adventure, but danger and possibility.” Vibrant and direct as ever, Hole In My Head is an exciting hallmark in Grace’s colorful and ever-changing journey.
